HARRISBURG, Pa. — Lawyers for CUNA, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association and three Pennsylvania credit unions will join with lawyers from the U.S. Justice Department in arguing in favor of the NCUA's ability to grant community charters to federally chartered credit unions.
Community charters that the agency granted to three federally chartered credit unions in Pennsylvania, the Members 1st FCU, New Cumberland FCU, and Americhoice FCU, have been attacked in litigation brought by the American Bankers Association and a group of Pennsylvania bankers. The bankers have made a motion for a summary judgment against the community charters and the credit union lawyers will argue against the motion.
