ANCHORAGE — Alaska USA Federal Credit Union has gone first in offering mobile wireless banking in America's most northern reaches, its technology provider says.

Alaska USA is calling the free service UltraBranch Mobile and says it allows members with Internet banking to use mobile devices to check balances and previous transactions, transfer between accounts and pay bills, as well as check rates and find the nearest ATM or branch.

The $3.3 billion CU (www.alaskausa.org) is the first to offer the service in Alaska, according to MShift Inc. (www.mshift.com), the California-based provider of the mobile banking technology to Alaska USA and dozens of other credit unions and banks.
