SALT LAKE CITY — In anticipation of opposition, Beehive Credit Union has urged members to reach out to the CU if they are contacted by “outsiders” providing a different perspective on the CU's possible change to a mutual savings bank charter.
The CU has set a date of Feb. 13, 2008 for the special meeting and vote. The ballots will be sent in the final notice, which will be timed for 30 days before the special meeting and members will be able to vote by mail or by dropping ballots off in lock boxes in the branches. They will only be allowed to vote once.
In a brochure called Questions and Answers, which accompanied the Nov. 15 notification package, the CU wrote, “In a number of previous credit union charter conversions we believe that people or organizations outside the membership made efforts to provide incomplete, misleading, and in some cases, inaccurate information to credit union members. If you are contacted by an outsider whose information is inconsistent with our disclosures and materials, we urge you to contact us during normal business hours.”
