FAIRHAVEN, Mass. — In what it calls a “groundbreaking” gesture honoring the military, the $400 million First Citizens' Federal Credit Union announced this week it is offering a package of loan, checking and savings services linked to donations to military groups.
“Our new 'Hero Account' is our way of saying thank you to the men and women in our military making sacrifices for our country and protecting our freedom,” said First Citizens' in detailing the product.
For each account opened, First Citizens' is donating $50 to a military or veterans' group chosen by the accountholder.
“We strongly believe that the sacrifices being made deserve more than just vocal recognition,” said Charles R. Simpson Jr., FCFCU president/CEO.
The new account is available to any person who serving or has served in any military branch including reserves. The account, said the CU, “is a comprehensive package of banking services offering advantageous checking and savings rates, discounted personal, auto and home equity loan rates, and reduced closing fees on mortgages.”
