ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The NCUA Board agreed to liquidate $7 million Green Tree Federal Credit Union yesterday.
Green Tree FCU, based in Feasterville, Pa., served Friends of Briar Bush, a nonprofit nature conservancy.
A portion of the credit union's 500 member accounts were transferred to $339 million Freedom Credit Union in Warminster with branches in close proximity to Green Tree FCU members. Freedom is able to offer the former Green Tree members a broad range of financial services. The remaining accounts were transferred to NCUA for payout within 10 days.
Credit union member deposits are insured up to at least $100,000 on regular accounts by the NCUSIF and $250,000 for IRA and KEOGH accounts.
