OKLAHOMA CITY — CURIA may not be moving this year, the Oklahoma Bankers Association forecast this week, but that doesn't mean bankers need to let their guard down considering realtors added "a gazillion co-sponsors to a bill" harmful to banks that now looks to pass this year.
Mocking CU strategy, the chairman of OBA, Don Abernathy, acknowledged in a weekly online message that CURIA has been gaining co-sponsors merely so lawmakers can "strut their stuff for their credit union constituents."
At the same time, that bandwagon effect worked for the realtors, which now has a bill "that will keep national banks out of the real estate business for ever."

So bankers need to work on Oklahoma Congressmen, warned Abernathy, reminding the OBA membership that so far "no member of the Oklahoma delegation has signed on to the credit union bill. Keep up the good work."
