INDIANAPOLIS — On a campaign to enlarge its Indiana profile under the CUSO umbrella, the $727 million Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union said this week it expects to add 15 CUs by yearend to an auto buying service as well as reach out to others in such areas as mortgages, marketing and legal advice.

“Based on our own track record, we feel we have something valuable to share with others through our CUSO,” said Lisa Schlehuber, the president/CEO of one of the nation's most venerable single sponsor CUs.

At the same time, officials of the Lilly CUSO, LCU Financial Services said they have been in touch with the Indiana Credit Union League about future product linkups. The league acknowledged that it is exploring a Lilly deal and on a broader note is looking at conducting a first-time meeting in November of all Indiana CUSOs regarding product offerings to small CUs in need of specialized services.

As for Lilly, Schleuber said she is enthused about the reception the CUSO revamp has been receiving, in particular signing up Indiana CUs on a near weekly basis for its “Members Auto Source,” a service to help members buy and price both new and used autos. Since April, the Lilly CUSO has partnered with 20 central Indiana dealers “to offer negotiated, no haggle pricing” to participating members.
