VIENNA, Va. — Navy Federal Credit Union's Pensacola, Florida Heritage Oaks Campus Building One, designed by ASD, Inc., has recently received the highest award from BusinessWeek and Architectural Record magazines 10th annual “Good Design is Good Business” competition.
The award recognizes innovative building design projects that help solve problems and achieve specific goals for companies, nonprofits, institutions, and governmental agencies.
The four winners of the Award of Excellence in 2007 were selected from a
diverse and competitive pool of 96 projects from nine different countries. All projects were completed within the past four years. The competition was judged on such factors as the building's design elements that have led to improvements such as increased employee retention, reduced energy costs, heightened production, rebranding or a boost in revenue.
The Pensacola, Florida Heritage Oaks Campus Building One is also the first commercial building in Florida to have received a Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design green building certification.
Sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED-certified buildings must meet rigorous construction and design standards for energy usage, waste disposal (during construction and after), landscaping and irrigation, and employee working conditions.
