LA CROSSE, Wis.–Another Wisconsin credit union, the $100 million Community of La Crosse, is offering reduced rates and flexible loan options to aid victims of the Aug. 18 flooding.
“The costs involved in cleanup and replacement can be overwhelming” noted the CU in offering members deferred payments, lower rates and waivers of closing costs on home equity loans.
Community, which follows similar action taken by Marine CU of Fond du Lac that has branches in the area, said its temporary loan program would “help make this time a little easier” for victims in the seven river area which includes a swath of the Mississippi stretching across hard-hit Minnesota.
Community said loan rates could be cut as much as 50 basis points and all being done on “a case by case basis,” said Stacy Trisler, director of marketing for Community, which has 12,000 members and four branches.
