COLUMBIA, Md. — Maryland & District of Columbia Credit Union Association CEO Mike Beall recently announced some clarification of senior staff duties to help focus the organization on its four prime areas of focus: advocacy, services, membership and finance.

“We're at a pretty crucial place where credit unions are right now and I think this is going to help me get out in credit unions,” he said. With the merger of the Maryland and D.C. leagues successfully completed, Beall hopes to get more into the community and help drum up membership and get them excited about what the association is doing, particularly along the veins of financial literacy, anti-predatory lending, and
promoting credit unions as a financial services alternative.

Accordingly, Beall has named a senior management team with one person overseeing each of the key areas.

Jennifer Porter Gore will head up MDDCCUA's advocacy team as chief advocacy officer; she only recently joined the association but has years of experience on Capitol Hill and at CUNA. Maureen McAtee has been tapped as vice president of state legislative and public affairs and will continue expanding MDDCCUA's financial literacy efforts and other initiatives. Kirk Fox as vice president for regulatory affairs. Sarah Turner will report to McAtee as the new director of public affairs and will edit MDDCCUA's FOCUS e-newsletter. Director of Compliance Andr?(C) Lucas will continue in hiscurrent role answering compliance queries.

Paul Rosenberger will serve as chief services officer, heading up the business services unit. Beall emphasized that the MDDCCUA offered more than 80 in-person training classes that have educated about 1,800 credit union people last year. This was just one of the reasons he creditedwith boosting state affiliation numbers.

Martha Ninichuk is the new vice president of credit union consulting, supervising Director of Training Mary Ann Caskey and Director of Consulting Dawn Johnson.

To help continue to grow membership, Jennifer Simmons has been named chief membership officer. “Affiliation has been on the rise and we are hoping to rise from 80% to 90% over the next three years,” Beall explained. He credits the merger, refreshing of offerings, and “hustle” for increasing interest.

Ruth Ann White, who has been on staff since the early 1980s, is the chief financial officer.
