CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Congressman Melvin Watt (D-N.C.) seemed to know his way around the teller line on a visit this morning to Charlotte Metro Credit Union during the legislator's 11th annual "Trading Places" district work period.

Watt visited the $143 million credit union's branch from 9:00-10:00 a.m. this morning where he performed the duties of a regular frontline teller including greeting members and processing basic transactions, according to Debbie Alexander, branch manager of Charlotte Metro's main branch.
"We are thrilled to have Congressman Watt on our teller line," Alexander said. "Working alongside his constituents like this shows that he is genuinely concerned about what's going on in the district. And we're delighted to be the first stop on his tour."

Watt is scheduled to work at a number of sites today through Wednesday including at a S.H.A.R.E. (Self-Help and Rewarded Efforts) of North Carolina construction site, Red Cross blood bank, vineyard, Goodwill of Rowan County job resource center, homeless shelter and a 911 call center.

"As always, I look forward to interacting with the citizens of the 12th District to hear and experience their perspectives," Watt said. "Working alongside my constituents and discussing their concerns provides an excellent first-hand opportunity for me to understand their needs and how I can serve them best in Washington."
