PITTSFIELD, Maine — Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union has officially opened the doors to its new Pittsfield branch with the "School's Out – Summer Savings Spectacular."

Pittsfield Mayor Timothy Nichols was on hand for an official ribbon cutting ceremony, and representatives from the Pittsfield Recreation Department also attended to accept a $500 donation from the credit union. The donation will be used towards the purchase of playground equipment for Hawthorn Park, which the recreation department is currently renovating.

Also highlighting the event was a special appearance by Portland Pirate's Mascot "Salty Pete," and a variety of fun "kids" activities including a clown, a moonwalk, a cashcube, hotdogs, popcorn and cotton candy, and special prizes and giveaways. One lucky attendee also won a new Nintendo Wii video game system.
