WASHINGTON — Compared to the banking industry's commercial loan growth, credit unions' member business loan growth made bigger strides in 2006.
Last year, MBL growth was 23.1% compared to banks' 11.9%, according to data from Callahan & Associates, Inc. While credit unions' MBL growth has dropped from 38.5% in 2002 down to 23.1% in 2006, banks were in the negative range in both 2002 and 2003 and have only managed to make conservative increases since then.
