WASHINGTON — The Credit Union Legislative Action Council of CUNA helped refill politicians coffers after the busy 2006 election season.
In February, CULAC contributed $5,000 to PAC to the Future, affiliated with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-N.Y.) who also got $10,000 directly to her own campaign. Additionally, Battle Born PAC (John Ensign (R-Nev.)); RAD PAC (George Radanovich (R-Calif.)); Eureka PAC (Ken Calvert (R-Calif.)); Mary's PAC (Mary Bono (R-Calif.)); KING PAC (Peter King (R-N.Y.)); the Congressional Black Caucus; Citizens for Action (Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.)); Searchlight Leadership Fund (Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.)); and Bluegrass Committee (Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)) each received $5,000.
Individuals receiving top dollar from the credit union PAC included House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) ($10,000); Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) ($10,000); and $5,000 each went to Representatives Ben Chandler (D-Ky.); Chris Cannon (R-Utah); Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.); Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio); Ways & Means Committee Member Ron Lewis (R-Ky.); CURIA co-sponsor Steven LaTourette (R-Ohio); and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), who serves on the Banking Committee.
