ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland, chair of the agency's Outreach Task Force, is working to stir up attendance for her six scheduled town hall meetings, following up on NCUA's Member Services Assessment Pilot. Registration has opened up for the first two. The first Town Hall is slated for Wednesday, April 18, in Cincinnati. "The Outreach Task Force is committed to listening to the voice of the credit union community," Hyland commented. "It is vital that we hear firsthand insights regarding the MSAP and enhancing service to members. These Town Hall meetings will provide an ideal forum for an open dialogue about the most important challenges and opportunities facing credit unions and their members." Registration has also opened up for the April 23 Town Hall in Boston. NCUA's task force is comprised of 13 NCUA officials who are holding these town hall style meetings to garner public opinion on the recommendations that came out of NCUA's MSAP, which included continued data collection on service to those of modest means, evaluating the effectiveness of NCUA's outreach assistance programs, additional monitoring of those benefiting from the Community Development Revolving Loan Fund program, and considering reassessing NCUA's formula for low-income designations, among other things. It also is taking a similar study by the Government Accountability Office into account.
