WASHINGTON — The Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals is up and running.
The effort, which was just getting organized in the spring of 2005, has elected its first board and charter members at the organization's first meeting, which was timed to coincide with CUNA's 2007 Governmental Affairs Conference. It came from more than 50 leading credit unions and supporting organizations.
The group has already launched its first project; a cooperative effort with the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions and the Consumer Federation of America to help convince more Hispanics to save their money with financial institutions rather than on their own.
