RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. — Who needs a fixed billboard when you can literally lead members to you?

A mobile billboard with the image of the famous Point Loma lighthouse, used as a logo by Point Loma Credit Union, drove throughout San Diego County for four weeks to promote the opening of the credit union's newly relocated Rancho Bernardo branch.

The billboard urged drivers to “Follow us for GREAT SERVICE to our NEW location!”

According to branch manager Carol Corey, it was very effective. “Many members saw it and asked us where the new branch was. One member actually followed it over to the branch!”

The traveling billboard was also brought in for the branch opening.

“It was so nice to have it actually parked in front during the recent grand opening. It was the perfect finishing touch for the day,” said Corey.

“The admobile idea was so effective we're going to expand on it,” said Ted Dennis, president/CEO. “We'll have two admobiles driving near our Oceanside and San Marcos branches, each with one side in English and the other in Spanish. We'll have a free gift for new members who say they saw one of the trucks.”

PLCU, whose motto is “Guiding you to your future,” has assets of more than $500 million and serves more than 60,000 members with 12 branches throughout San Diego and Riverside counties.
