PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — What better way to head into the future than by taking a look at your past?

After a successful merger with Pan Am Horizons Federal Credit Union last year, Power Financial Credit Union has swelled to serve 60,000 members and has assets totaling over $495 million.

To commemorate the move, Power Financial recently literally dug up a piece of its history by unearthing a time capsule that was buried years ago at Pan Am Horizons' Homestead branch.

Among the 23 items in the capsule were a letter from the Florida Credit Union League congratulating the Homestead AFBFCU on 25 years of success; a January 15 issue of the Miami Herald; an employee phone listing; a 1981 Christmas party program; a picture of supervisors; newsletters; and financial statements of 1957 and 1982. “The unearthing of the time capsule is a fitting segue for Pan Am Horizons as it celebrates 25 years and begins a new era as part of Power Financial,” said President/CEO Henry Prior. “In keeping with the time capsule tradition we will continue the legacy and bury a safe deposit box at our headquarters in Pembroke Pines and have invited the entire community to help provide us with the contents.”
