PALM DESERT, Calif. — Michael Mercer, president/CEO of the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, has been honored with the American Association of Credit Union Leagues' Eagle Award, one of its highest honors.

Mercer was bestowed the honor for his “outstanding achievement and leadership” in running the Georgia league. He is the 16th recipient of the award in its 24-year history.

AACUL Chairman Rick Pillow, president/CEO of the Virginia League, presented Mercer with the award during the annual conference of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues.

At the AACUL meeting, Pillow was re-elected chairman along with 2006 officers. They include: first vice chair: Rosie Holub, Missouri Credit Union Association; second vice chair: Brett Thompson, Wisconsin Credit Union League; treasurer: Bill Mellin, New York State Credit Union League and secretary: Wendell Lyons, Kentucky Credit Union League.
