FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Didier Printing, a supplier of card plastics to credit unions, has rolled out OSCAR, a collection of printing innovations that the company said will allow it to provide CUs with card plastics more quickly and accurately than in the past.

"Even though Didier pioneered guaranteed three-week delivery, our research indicated our clients wanted quicker turnaround times on a more consistent basis," says Bill Lynch, executive vice president with Didier.

But while exploring alternative approaches to cycle time reduction, Didier realized the effort to produce cards more quickly was going to be an enterprise-wide endeavor impacting all areas of operation.

"Significant advances in print and process technologies presented Didier with a unique opportunity to dramatically improve our production model," says Jim Galliher, CEO and the firm's owner. "Not only could we see a way to reduce deliveries to one or two weeks, we also envisioned a significant opportunity to improve our overall card quality and consistency. The more research we did, the more we realized we had to implement OSCAR."

Didier is the only secure card manufacturer to implement High Definition Print Technology (HDPT) with the implementation of OSCAR. This printing process dramatically improves color and consistency throughout a card order because it is an "intelligent" system and it is repeatable from re-order to re-order, the company said.

Another benefit to customers is in the receipt of "Proof Positive" proofs. Galliher adds, "We have effectively eliminated the need for match prints, roll-downs, press proofs and press checks which all drag on cycle time."

The company says it is turning the old pun "You want it when?" upside down to offer "WYWI delivery–When YOU Want It."

"All of us at Didier are very excited about OSCAR and it has been well received by our customer base. We will continue to build on this technology and deliver those products and services our clients demand of us," Galliher concludes.
