ALBANY, N.Y. — Sports arenas have become a popular branding option for credit unions in recent years. The latest is an agreement between the $1.3 billion SEFCU in Albany and the University at Albany to rename the school's Recreation and Convocation Center the SEFCU Arena. It is a 10-year, $2.75 million deal. The SEFCU Arena is home to the university's men's and women's basketball teams. The arena has also played host to popular music acts, such as Sheryl Crow and Green Day. “This unique collaboration brings together public and private entities to work together to develop programs and events that will enrich the UAlbany community and the entire Capital Region,” said SEFCU President Michael Castellana.
