ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson is taking on another chairmanship.
Johnson, who was appointed to the Financial Literacy and Education Commission at its inception, will now serve as chairman of the www.MyMoney.gov Web site subcommittee. As such, she will coordinate the efforts of 20 federal agencies to improve financial education across America.
"The Web site is a proven and valuable financial education resource for all Americans," Johnson commented. "I look forward to building upon the excellent work already done in this area, and continue to enhance the partnership and commitment of twenty federal agencies in achieving the common goal of improving financial education across the country. The credit union experience has been extraordinarily positive in the area of financial education, and I am confident that this success will translate into even greater results for MyMoney.gov."

The MyMoney.gov Web site was created, in accordance with the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, to provide a centralized source for financial education tools and resources to the public. The site was publicly launched in a ceremony at NCUA's headquarters two years ago. The U.S. General Services Administration's Federal Citizen Information Center developed and manages the site.
"Chairman Johnson has been a valuable member of the Commission from the start…" Treasury Deputy Assistant Secretary of Financial Education Dan Iannicola Jr. said. "I've seen first-hand the Chairman's personal commitment to the issue of financial literacy. She knows financial knowledge can change lives for the better."
