I would like to thank Editor-in-Chief Paul Gentile for his remarks in his Sept. 27 column regarding NCUA's Express distribution system. Since the inception of our system in 2004 to electronically distribute information to credit unions, the agency has been encouraging credit unions to sign up for this free service. Your comments highlight this cost saving distribution system, which gets information into the hands of those who need it in a timely, easy manner. In addition to credit unions receiving important notices and guidance via e-mail in a matter of hours versus days, in just over two years, and with less than one fourth of the credit unions subscribing, the agency has realized almost $100,000 in savings. That allows us to hold the line on the budget and in turn, saves credit unions money. Thank you for your suggestion to make Express more visible on NCUA's homepage. Though a link appears on the left-hand column of our Web site, www.ncua.gov, I believe we can do a better job of making it more visible. Based on your suggestion, NCUA's homepage will soon have an eye-catching logo to draw a visitor's attention to an Express signup. Our goal is to have the vast majority of credit unions onboard with electronic information delivery within the next two years. Paul, thank you for encouraging credit unions to use Express, we appreciate your comments. JoAnn Johnson Chairman National Credit Union Administration Alexandria, Va.
