COON RAPIDS, Minn. — The $100 million Anoka Hennepin Credit Union has signed up for a rewards only program that will offer members a cash back card that they can use locally to receive cash back from participating stores.

The VIP Cash Value card is not a credit or debit card, the CU said. Rather it is a free card that members can use to generate cash back for their purchases as well as for the Anoka Hennepin Educational Foundation.

The Foundation uses the money to support a variety of school programs for which tax dollars are not available, like updating books in the media centers, grants, leading outward bound type leadership programs and activity fees.

The CU will also load $10 on a card for members that refer an individual to the credit union. The new, referred member also receives $10 on their VIP card.

"This type of program is 'win-win-win'," said Jeff Claussen, AHCU CEO. "We're able to contribute to education with a user-friendly cash value card while growing the credit union. Additionally, when members use the funds we've loaded on their cards we are, in turn, supporting businesses in our communities."
