SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — For his efforts in helping minority businesses, Maurice Calderon, senior vice president of minority development at Arrowhead Credit Union, was recently recognized for his work.

Calderon received the Ramon Alvarez Golden Eagle Minority Business award from the Riverside Opportunity Center. The center's annual Spirit of Greatness banquet recognized nine individuals who have contributed in their professions and made a difference in their communities. Calderon was honored for his business achievement and contributions to the Inland Empire region of Southern California.

“I was surprised and honored to be among such a distinguished group of honorees,” Calderon said. “When I look back over my 40-year career in the financial industry, I am just thankful and grateful for the opportunities that I have been given.”

On hand to celebrate the honor with Calderon was his wife Dorothy, Marie Alonzo, chairman of the Arrowhead Credit Union's board of directors, her husband Alex, Henry De La O, a director on Arrowhead's board, his wife Vangie and Elsa Montes, vice president-membership services at the $996 million credit union.
