SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Over 35 employees from Redwood Credit Union volunteered at local nonprofit agencies for "A Day of Caring."

Sponsored by the United Way, the "Day of Caring" event is a day of volunteerism during which companies participate by providing hands-on assistance at local nonprofit agencies. This year, three RCU volunteer teams participated, covering projects in Sonoma, Mendocino and Marin counties.

In Sonoma County, a team of about 20 RCU employees helped with landscaping and outdoor clean up at the Boys & Girls club of Healdsburg. The Marin County RCU team assisted with painting and cleaning at the Marin AIDS Project Center. In Mendocino County, RCU volunteers helped clean up the food bank at the Ukiah Community Center.

RCU President/CEO Brett Martinez, who also serves on the board for the United Way of Sonoma-Mendocino-Lake, said, "It is always moving to see so many volunteers from RCU and other businesses in the community out in force, and enthused to assist local nonprofits with projects that they otherwise might not have the resources to complete. Redwood Credit Union believes strongly in giving back to our communities in a variety of ways, and our employees truly enjoy being 'hands-on' to help make a difference."

RCU actively supports and participates in a variety of community programs throughout the year, including the Human Race, the American Red Cross, the Sonoma County Volunteer Center, Salvation Army and the United Way.
