WASHINGTON — NAFCU co-sponsored what it called a "bipartisan end-of-session event" in late September as Congress was heading toward the recess with a number of other groups, including some banker organizations.
The happy hour, hosted Sept. 28 at Johnny's Half Shell at 400 North Capitol Street, NW, in Washington, D.C., was co-sponsored by lobbyists from America's Community Bankers, the Independent Bankers of America, the Consumer Bankers Association, the Property Casualty Insurers of America, American Financial Services Association, the Mortgage Bankers Association, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, MasterCard, American Express, and Visa.
"It was just a bipartisan end-of-session event that was hosted by a large cross-section of multiple groups including accounting, insurance, credit card and other financial services associations, and was attended by a huge number of staffers," NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Dan Berger said. "As you know, in order to get bills moving on Capitol Hill, such as data security or flood insurance reform, groups have to work together."
