WASHINGTON — After less than five months, CUNA Vice President of State Governmental Affairs Larry Lanier has left CUNA. Lanier, who left Oct. 6 to become a head lobbyist for a state medical association, has more than 20 years in advocating issues at the state level. He replaced Colleen Kelly, a 17-year employee of CUNA who left the position at the end of March to be a stay-at-home mother to her two young sons. Lanier had a good deal of experience in health care, having served in key posts at the American Academy of Dermatology (an association), the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Florida Medical Association, as well as consultant experience in state regulatory affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University, and an MS in public administration from FSU.
