RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Altura Credit Union turned the grand opening of its Murrieta branch into a fundraiser to benefit area schools and the local library.
Some 100 people attended the event, which raised over $3,000 for Murrieta schools and the Murrieta Library as part of Altura CU's commitment to literacy. Altura will match the donations from attendees for a total donation of approximately $6,000. Held at the credit union's 12th branch, the gala featured KFI Radio talk show host and Altura member, Bill Handel.
"We are excited to finally open a branch in the growing community of Murrieta," said Altura President/CEO Mark Hawkins. "Our Murrieta-based members have waited patiently for a branch, and we are thrilled to provide a brand new, state-of-the-art facility for them. We also are happy that we could use our opening to benefit the community by donating the proceeds from the event to enhance literacy."
