CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Credit Union League has joined its managing partner, the Credit Union Association of Colorado, in adopting the "association" name, also approving a bylaw change allowing out-of-state CUs to join as associate members.

The name switch and bylaw change on so-called "foreign" CUs with branches in Wyoming came at the league's annual meeting here.

Previously, bylaws required members be headquartered in Wyoming, precluding other CUs operating in the state from participating in association affairs. The league said its Casper meeting was its best attended with 19 of the 33 affiliated CUs represented.

In a separate staff shuffle relating to the Colorado trade group as well as Wyoming, Grace Stanton, senior vice president of marketing and communications, has resigned to pursue development of her own Denver-based PR/marketing firm.

Her duties have been taken over by Karen Morgan, senior vice president of strategic partners, in the league's service corp.

Stanton, who left the trade group two months ago, said she has teamed up with a former marketing executive vice president at Vectra Banks to provide media and PR support for client CUs. She is also "helping an out-of-state league with its branding program." She did not identify the league.

Wishing Stanton well, John Dill, the president/CEO of the Colorado and Wyoming CU associations, said reorganization in the marketing area will help serve the organization's ongoing advocacy and training programs "in unifying the movement at a time bankers are trying to split us apart."

As part of its program to beef up marketing, the CUAC said it has hired Molly Dynan as communications manager. Dynan has seven years experience in the field having worked in Chicago and New York outlets in high-tech, publishing and the not-for-profit fields.
