PORTLAND, Ore. — Unitus Community Credit Union is joining a list of CUs supporting the environment by offering a discount on loans for hybrid vehicles.
With Unitus' "Green Loan," rates are reduced by .5% for members who purchase a 2003 or newer hybrid vehicle. Full and mild hybrids qualify for the rate reduction.
"We're encouraging our members to save money, save gas, and ultimately, improve our environment," said Paul Kirkbride, vice president of credit services.

Studies, said Unitus, show Portland "is a leader in innovative transportation solutions and has a large population of eco-friendly residents. By launching a product with such mass-appeal, Unitus hopes to strengthen its ties with the Portland market."
