BAY CITY, Mich. — The $53 million Financial Edge Credit Union found that its Aug. 25 Member Appreciation Day became better than ever as soon as the CU involved its next door neighbor, the local office of the American Automobile Association, in the event. "The AAA has the offices next door to us and the organization already has a relationship with the Michigan Credit Union League," explained Pam Swope, marketing manager for the CU. The organizations decided to get together on member appreciation when they realized they each have members and that they would be able to stage a better party together than they would on their own. "We had a fire truck and games for the kids and lunch and other programs," Swope said, adding that the CU had 400 members attend this year, more than in other years, and that it had managed to pick up some members from among the AAA members who had also decided to attend. Both organizations judged it to have been such a success that they plan to offer another joint member appreciation day next year, Swope said. The credit union has 8,500 members and serves an area encompassing Arenac, Bay, Midland, and Saginaw, Michigan. –[email protected]
