Sample Text of Resolution

The following is the sample text of the resolution that the board of Research FCU passed. SAMPLE Resolution to NCUA WHEREAS credit unions are not for profit financial institutions that provide their member-owners with democratic voting rights, and WHEREAS credit unions adopt bylaws to provide rules and procedures under which they must operate and which function as a contract between the credit union and its member-owners, and WHEREAS failure to honor such bylaws sets a very dangerous precedent and can result in severely weakening the credit union’s governance structure, and can reflect poorly on all credit unions, and WHEREAS the member-owners of DFCU Financial Federal Credit Union, of Dearborn, Michigan, have properly petitioned their board of directors to call a special meeting of the members as provided in their bylaws but the board has refused to do so, and WHEREAS the directors of _______ credit union strongly believe that the NCUA should not tolerate bylaw violations and are desirous of seeing the NCUA protect member rights, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the directors of _______ credit union express their concern by strongly urging the NCUA to use its authority to require DFCU Financial Federal Credit Union to honor its bylaws and call a special meeting of its members.
