ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland and Senior Policy Advisor Gary Kohn participated in the fourth episode of a free credit union issues podcast hosted by a conglomerate of credit union lawyers.

“Podcast technology is a great way to reach out to a wider segment of the credit union system and the public,” Hyland commented. “We discussed issues ranging from Bank Secrecy Act compliance to strategic issues facing the credit union system. The format is fairly informal, but filled with valuable discussion, debate and insight from four very experienced, knowledgeable credit union attorneys. It was a pleasure to participate.”

During her remarks, Hyland discussed the revised FFIEC's Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Examination Manual. She described the manual as more user-friendly and providing a better road-map for performing a risk assessment on their BSA/AML compliance.

Hyland and Kohn are also both attorneys.

The podcast is a monthly, collaborative effort by well-known credit union attorneys Robert Rutkowski of Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A.; Brian Witt of Farleigh Witt; Guy Messick of Messick & Weber, P.C.; and Gwen Baker of Venable, LLC.
