ASHEVILLE, N.C. – NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney Hood underscored the importance of board development and succession planning for continuity of leadership during a speech at the SE Regional Director's Conference in North Carolina.

Hood commended the hard work of the volunteers during his July 24 address. "The safety and soundness of credit unions greatly depends upon maintaining healthy continuity of leadership on their volunteer boards," he said. "I encourage all credit union board officers to make the development of future volunteer leadership a key priority of their service."

Following the conference, the vice chairman met United Services Credit Union President and CEO Doug Roth. "I enjoyed meeting with Mr. Roth. It is wonderful to see first hand a credit union that truly personifies the spirit of serving the underserved," Hood commented.
