DAVIS, Calif. – Travis Credit Union held a Hawaiian inspired celebration to mark the opening of its new Davis branch. A Hawaiian getaway-for-two prize, valued at $2,500, along with plastic leis and sun visors set the stage for its Hawaiian-themed grand opening celebration. Other deals included piggy banks for kids who opened a youth account, a $100 Home Depot gift card when closing a home equity loan and an iPod Shuffle for opening new checking accounts with $500 direct deposit. The credit union also served as a sponsor of the Davis Chamber of Commerce's "Celebrate Davis!" a free event for the public featuring food, fun and fireworks. As a platinum sponsor Travis CU provided a mobile ATM at their booth. Over 11,000 people attended, including Travis CU mascot T-Bird. "Participating in the Celebrate Davis! Festival was a great way to introduce ourselves and invite our new neighbors to the grand opening," said Travis CU Executive Vice President Lila Dressen. "We hope to participate in future community events because supporting our members is important to us." Travis CU's efforts paid off resulting in $2 million in deposits, over $200,000 in loans and over 100 new membership accounts.
