ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A power outage at NCUA’s Alexandria, Va. headquarters led to an unexpected day off. Staff at NCUA’s Duke Street headquarters, which also houses the Region II offices, got an extra long weekend with the power outage occurring the Monday before the Fourth of July. NCUA Director of Public and Congressional Affairs John McKechnie emphasized, “There has been no interruption in field services.” A generator was running the essentials for field operations, but without air conditioning, the Washington, D.C.-area office building is uninhabitable in July. The agency was back open for business July 5. NAFCU had planned to close for business July 3 while CUNA and NASCUS were open for business.
