FORT WORTH, Texas – EECU is helping its members prevent identity theft by hosting a free identity theft seminar. A recent survey released by the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics found that 3.6 million U.S. households have been victims of at least one type of identity theft. It is one of the fastest growing crimes nationwide, and Texas ranks second among all states. At the Identity Theft Seminar, open to EECU members and the general public, attendees will learn about the different types of identity theft, how to avoid being a victim, and what to do if they do become a victim. Seminar speakers will include the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Postal Inspector, Texas Attorney General’s Office, EECU, and the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.
