HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Community Credit Union will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a new name and a new charter. Effective July 1, the $14 million credit union has converted to a federal community charter and is sporting a new moniker: Community Link Federal Credit Union. The changes, which were approved by the board and members, aim to provide improved benefits including preservation of a “realistic” aggregate borrowing limits per member. A new Indiana HB 1179 will reduce the credit union’s aggregate borrowing limit from approximately $1.4 million to $200,000 per member, according to the credit union. Converting to a federal credit union would also increased the individual limits for business lending per member, reduce approximately 50% in examination fees to regulators and eliminate the Indiana sales tax and loan origination tax, the credit union said. Founded in 1997, Community Link serves more than 2,400 members. Its field of membership includes Huntington County.
