ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Design/build firm HBE has won a Golden Trowel Award for outstanding design in the category of industrial/commercial by the San Antonio Masonry Contractors Association. HBE will be recognized at an awards banquet for its excellence in masonry design and construction on the Texas-based United San Antonio Community Federal Credit Union project. The awards are presented for projects built in the San Antonia area within the past two years that use a masonry product such as brick and block, stone or marble as the primary building material. Projects are judged by juries of noted architects, contractors and craft workers and are rated on design craftsmanship, percentage of visible masonry and overall aesthetic appeal, and level of masonry difficulty. HBE completed the credit union's new 40,000 square-foot, three-story headquarters in June 2005. The primary masonry material used in this project was stone and included Texas Cream random chopped limestone for the general stonework and Texas Cream cut limestone for the window sills.
