CINCINNATI – Three projects designed by design/build firm DEI Incorporated were awarded a 2006 Golden Mirror Award from the Credit Union Executives Society. Credit Union West received first place in the Point of Sale category for its asset division. Located in a growing city with heavy zoning restrictions and community design guidelines on the use of materials and landscaping to reflect an appreciation for the natural desert landscape of the region, the branch portrays the credit union’s dedication to its surrounding community and landscape. Retail elements incorporated into this facility help to reinforce Credit Union West’s tag line of “So Much More Than Money.” Not only is this location a full-service branch, but this facility also offers a caf with complimentary coffee, individually packaged cookies, bottled water and a children’s area. The Swartz Creek, Michigan branch of Financial Plus Federal Credit Union was awarded second place in the Point of Sale category for its asset division. Designers wanted to continue the organic, residential feel of the area on both the exterior and interior of the branch to create a comfortable atmosphere for members. The new Financial Plus FCU branch was designed with tri-colored brick that lends a welcoming, residential feel to the facility while a monumental tower and expansive glass front is illuminated at night to attract attention. The Award of Merit in the Point of Sale category for its asset size was presented for Truliant Federal Credit Union’s Charlotte branch. The urban-inspired environment was designed to appeal to young adults living and working in the area.
