ASPEN, Colo. – Two Colorado credit unions expect to have a merger deal completed by July 31 pending NCUA approval.
Roaring Fork Employees Credit Union, with $2.3 million in assets and less than 800 members, has said it plans to merge with $29 million Grand Junction Federal Credit Union, according to Aspen Times. Expanded services seem to be the driving force with Roaring Fork looking to be able to offer free checking, mortgages, consumer loans and other services. Right now the credit union offers primarily deposit accounts.
A name change is planned down the road for the merging credit unions with a contest to determine the most fitting name.
