SALEM, Ore. -MaPS Credit Union's new Administration Center is making a name for itself.

Recently, First Commercial Real Estate, Salem, was awarded the Bill Frey Commercial Transaction of the Year Award by the Salem Association of Realtors for its work in brokering the sale and development of the new MaPS building. Brokers Terri Frohnmayer and Jeff Corner worked with key players at MaPS, developers, the City of Salem, and downtown neighborhood associations to ensure that the complex transaction was successful.

According to Dan Penn, MaPS president/CEO, the transaction was noteworthy because it significantly decreased financial risk at both the time of purchase and leasing; allowed a seamless transition from the old building to new property without disruption of services; and provided a facility that MaPS can expand into at a future date.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – It has been a busy year so far for design/build firm HTG Architects.

The firm is currently working on or wrapping up some five credit union projects.

For Accentra Credit Union, HTG is designing its first branch. Based in Albert Lea, Minn., the 6,100 square-foot facility features four Remote Teller Systems, allowing additional cross selling and merchandising. The credit union has also implemented the use of Inlighten software throughout the branch, increasing brand awareness. A Member Planning Center and coffee bar are additional highlights. The branch opened in early March.

TruWest Credit Union tapped HTG to freshen up its 4,000 square-foot Scottsdale, Ariz. branch. Now the member service desk is the focal point of the lobby, located at the entrance for convenience. The use of cherry wood, glass and glossy granite surfaces is featured in the circular lobby. Convenience, comfort and a variety of media used to present information, are high priorities in the design of this facility. Construction is expected to be completed this summer.

In Surprise, Ariz., Deer Valley Credit Union wanted a high tech but still inviting space. To that end, the 5,000 square-foot branch has glossy granite and metal panels on the exterior providing the building with a "high-tech" feel while the stone offers subtle warmth. The office also features clerestory glass, allowing natural daylight deep into lobby area. The branch office is currently under construction, lead by DBSI, Inc. of Chandler and is expected to be completed in the late fall of 2006.

St. Cloud Federal Credit Union's new, 12,900 square foot Sartell, Minn. branch features a lobby without a traditional line of "teller windows," instead using open, member-friendly walk-up concierge stations from which to provide services. The waiting area is situated at the center of the main lobby where members are encouraged to relax, enjoy a cup of coffee and surf the Internet. The facility opened for business in early January.

Wings Financial Federal Credit Union has also tapped the firm for its latest branch near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The new facility will be 5,300 square feet and incorporate an aviation theme, touting the milestone of the airline industry including inspirational quotes and historical photographs.
