DOWNEY, Calif. – Southland Credit Union is welcoming members to its newly revamped Downey branch. Modernized to create a more comfortable environment, the branch remodel features are designed to highlight the credit union's brand image. The facility now includes an Internet kiosk, multiple television screens, coffee counter, lounge area, and an ATM. To reward members for their patience since the Downey branch remained open during construction a grand re-opening was held. Festivities, which included a ribbon cutting ceremony and tours, wrapped up with a community event. To play up the credit union's tagline "Bringing Your Dreams to Reality," 10 tons of snow were placed in the parking lot creating a winter wonderland for kids to play in. A snowman was built and the credit union provided free digital photos for the families next to the snowman. Hot dogs and beverages were provided to all who attended the event. "The remodel has completely changed the look and feel of the Downey Branch. With the ceiling lifted and new lighting installed it really opens the branch up, giving a much larger feeling than we had before," said Downey Branch Manager James Chang. "At Southland, member service comes first and this new design provides more teller stations to better assist our members and the new ATM allows access to their accounts whenever they need."
