SC Telco Federal Credit Union, Greenville, has been presented three major awards from the United Way of Greenville County. The $114 million credit union walked away with the prestigious 2005 Chairman’s Award; Campaign Award of Advancement for creating at least a 25% increase in giving over the 2004 United Way campaign and the Campaign Award of Excellence. SC Telco raised a total of $13,294, a 39% increase over 2004. FirstLight Federal Credit Union, El Paso, Texas, Fraud Specialist Mary J. Gongora has received the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. CFEs are knowledgeable in four areas critical to the fight against fraud: Fraudulent Financial Transactions, Criminology & Ethics, Legal Elements of Fraud and Fraud Investigation. The ACFE’s Board of Regents awards this designation only to select professionals who meet the stringent set of criteria, including character, experience, and education. Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Groton, Conn., staffers were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. Members of the Charter Oak Campaign Committee were presented with the 2005 Pacesetter Committee Award for their dedicated work running a model campaign, resulting in contributions of $40,750. Charter Oak employees use a year round approach, organizing various raffles, cookbook sales, a chili cook off, and a successful pledge campaign. They also participate in a “Day of Caring” where they weed, clean and repair the outdoor area for the Child And Family Agency in Norwich.
