AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas Longhorns' baseball field will soon be completely renovated thanks to a $13 million contribution from University Federal Credit Union. The $700 million CU recently inked an agreement with the school to renovate Disch-Falk Field, the home of the six-time national champion Texas Longhorns baseball team. UFCU plans to contribute $13.1 million over 15 years towards the retirement of debt that will finance the renovation. The contribution includes an initial $1.5 million gift and yearly contributions that will start in the third year of the agreement. On Aug. 1, the field will also sport a new name – UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The 30-year old facility will undergo a complete overhaul with more seating, new training facilities, batting cages and locker rooms as well as a remodeled concourse featuring a renovated concession area, a new sound system and larger press box. School officials say suites may also be added. UFCU President/CEO Tony Budet said the agreement is just one of many the CU has done with Texas since the CU's founding in 1936 by a group of Texas professors. He calls the latest partnership a win-win for all involved. "We take great pride in this new agreement to partner with UT and other contributors to create a more contemporary baseball facility for the nation's preeminent collegiate baseball program and its fans," Budet said. "The visibility and awareness gained through this partnership will position UFCU to continue to grow; thereby strengthening our ability to price products more attractively and expand our services in what is an extremely competitive financial services environment." Texas Men's Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds said UFCU has been a strong supporter of the school's athletic program for more than a decade and the latest alliance enhances the relationship between the two while helping the school to immediately move forward with its renovation plans.
