NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Delaware Credit Union League has tapped one of its veteran credit union volunteers as its new president/CEO. After completing a national search Patrick Mahaney, a 25-year credit union volunteer succeeds Bob Walls who left the Delaware League in July to head up the New Jersey Credit Union League. During his 25 years as a credit union volunteer, Mahaney served as chairman of DEXSTA FCU in Wilmington, Del. for four years and secretary of the board for nine years. His earlier credit union experience included serving on the credit committee of DEXSTA for eight years. He has also been involved with credit union political action and volunteer training through the Volunteer Achievement Program. Mahaney recently retired as a senior facilities administrator for the DuPont Company where he worked for 30 years. The native Delawarean who resides in Bear has also been active in community affairs including serving as past president of the Delaware City Junior Chamber of Commerce and as a marketing director for the Artists Theatre Association where he still serves as a board member. Commenting on Mahaney’s selection, Delaware Credit Union League Chairman James Everhart Jr. said the new president/CEO’s 25 years working with credit unions “illustrates that he understands the credit union philosophy. The League board is sure that Delaware credit unions will find Patrick eager to serve their needs in the same successful way he did as a credit union volunteer.” Thirty-five credit unions representing approximately 220,000 members are affiliated with the Delaware Credit Union League. -
