SAUGUS, Mass. – Saugus Federal Credit Union is helping a Louisiana school district as part of its Hurricane Relief efforts. SFCU President John Smolinsky has announced that the credit union will match the $5,900 the Saugus Educators’ Association (SEA) is sending to the city of Baker school system in Louisiana. Over $2,000 in loose change was donated to the school. “We had already raised several thousand dollars and were trying to find a worthwhile cause, and this certainly fit the bill,” Smolinsky said. “It’s nice to work with the SEA to help this school district as representatives of the town of Saugus. You always hear about the bad things going on in town, so it’s exciting to do something good.” All of the donated funds will benefit the Baker School District and will pay for lightweight jackets distributed to displaced students, a staff appreciation luncheon and Halloween parties for the city’s 1,400 elementary school students.
