HERSHEY, Pa. – Hershey Federal Credit Union has recently donated $1,206.74 to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The donated funds were divided equally between the American Red Cross and the National Credit Union Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. HFCU members and employees donated pocket change and other cash contributions for a period of four weeks. The credit union matched all donations received by Sept. 30. In addition, proceeds from special events held at the Hershey FCU annual golf tournament were also added to the hurricane fund. Donations made to the American Red Cross were specified to help the Gulf Coast hurricane victims. All money donated to the NCUF Disaster Relief Fund will be used to provide for such necessities as housing, food and transportation to credit union staff, volunteers and members in the affected areas.
