ALEXANDRIA, Va.-New NCUA Board Member Rodney Hood was officially sworn in Nov. 15 to serve on the NCUA Board. NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson administered the Oath of Office to Hood at the agency’s Alexandria, Va.-headquarters. “I am pleased to welcome Rodney Hood to the NCUA Board,” Johnson said. “Rodney’s extensive experience in financial services and leadership in working to make an ownership society a reality for millions of Americans will be a tremendous asset to NCUA and the nation’s credit unions.” “I am privileged to serve the nation at the NCUA and look forward to working with Chairman Johnson and Gigi Hyland in ensuring the safety and soundness of the nation’s federally insured credit unions,” Hood stated. The Senate approved Hood’s nomination Nov. 7 after having been nominated May 10. His background includes 17 years in the public and private sectors boosting community development. Most recently he served as associate administrator of the Rural Housing Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he was in charge of a $43 billion loan portfolio with over 400,000 loans. Hyland was also confirmed by the Senate Nov. 7 and was expected to be sworn-in later last week due to a scheduling conflict.
